Another Topic To Get The Eagles Talking...
Okay, it seems that we Eagles all enjoy art in some form. So, which is your favorite? Poetry? Music? Sculpture? Acting? And who is your favorite artist of your favorite art?

For me, it is a toss up between music and poetry. I thrive on music. I don't know how to play a piano properly, but I can get the basic tune of a song within the first 3 times of hearing it and play that basic tune on the piano. I love to sing. I would give my right arm to get a try out for either Nashville Star or American Idol (althought, I loathe Simon and I fear him, so Nashville Star would be much better). I also love poetry. I write it (click here to see some of my poetry) and read it. Writing, in general is a big escape for me.

As for favorites, well, music I cannot pick just one. My music preferences are so eclectic that I cannot pinpoint a single person or group as a favorite. Garth Brooks rocks! Kid Rock is awesome! Sophie B. Hawkins rocks out loud! Hell, I even like Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Lynard Skynard, etc. etc. etc. About the only music you will very rarely find me listening to is rap. I do enjoy Eminem and Tupac, but that is about it. For writing/poetery, I enjoy Edgar Allen Poe and Frost. I also enjoy Stephen King and James Patterson (I know, not poets, but great authors).

So, those are my picks. Okay, Eagles, what about you? What and who do you enjoy?

Hmmmm, I think I'm going to have to go with music, art, and writing. I can't spew out the names of famous artists or anything, but those three forms of art are my favourites because they're what I enjoy, and what relaxes me.

I'm an amateur guitar player, and I think that if I really committed myself to it I'd be able to really go places and such, but my life leaves little time for regular practice, and so it's really only something I manage to do on and off.

With art, I'm in more to cartooning and such. It's what I do in my spare time, usually in the little margins in my notebooks where I'm supposed to be taking notes during lectures. Going with my nerdy trend and all, this means I often delve into fanart. I'm no accomplished artist, having only recently settled on my own style, but you never know what could happen. And example of my cartooning can be seen here. (It's a Marauders era Sirius Black) But I can delve into realism if the mood hits me, as seen from a drawing I completed for art class a few years ago here.

Finally, there's writing. I still write off and on, and I've got a few large-scale fanfics in the works (yeah, I write fanfiction a lot) but mostly I write things for friends - using "friend canon" and with several original characters [oddly enough, though, even though I never share any of that stuff, I actually take considerate pains to make sure these original characters don't end up as Mary-Sues... kinda odd, I think]. Lately any recent writings I've done have ended up in my LJ for going over and editing and such, but I've got several fics done and completed over on fanfiction.net (my pen name is Goggle Girl).

As for favourites, well... music-wise my favourite group of artists are The Beatles and they always will be. My tastes may be eclectic listening to everything under the sun from The Backstreet Boys (my guilty pleasure) to Blind Guardian, but I've noticed I tend to stray more towards classic rock for some reason or another. And The Beatles are definitely my favourite group ever.

I don't have a favourite artist as my knowledge of art is very limited. And I think a lot of modern art is lost on me. With writing I'm in the same difficult position - I don't really have a favourite writer. If I had to pick one, however, I guess I'd go with Gordon Korman. I read a lot of his books when I was younger, and his style (especially in his Bruno and Boots series) really influenced me. I learned what flowed from reading his books, and where you could get away with breaking proper grammatical rules if it helped your book along. There was also the fact that he was first published when he was something like thirteen years old... so I think that encouraged me to start writing as well.

I will probably be checking out your fanfics really soon. That is one of my guilty pleasures, reading fanfics. As for The Beatles, totally love them. I have the three anthologies. Great to hear some truly unique stuff about you!

Mmm... I would say music and writing. I can't do much with music myself, but it's really important in my life, and I'm sure that's the same with everyone. I can't really pick one favorite or even just a few of them, but... the last three albums I played were by Alexz Johnson, Jeff Buckley, and Rufus Wainwright.

And I'm a big writer. I can definitely understand what you mean about it writing being an escape, yeah. Favorite writers... Tamora Pierce, JKR obviously, Diana Wynne Jones, Meg Cabot.

Writing is my favorite. I write poetry and fanfic. My favorite authors are Madeleine L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, William Shakespeare, and a whole bunch more. ;) My favorite poem is the first sonnet from the "La Corona" sequence by John Donne.

I do like music, as well. I have sung in choirs before, and people tell me I have a decent voice. I'd like to learn how to play the guitar and/or piano. My favorite band is R.E.M.

I also like art, although I have zero talent in that area. My favorite artist is Johannes Vermeer.

Well, I enjoy acting, music, and I consider literature an art. For acting I have so many favorites but right now I'd have to say Monty Python, even though they're a group. I love all kinds of musicians so I can't pick just one. Literature, well the author I respect the most would have to be Jane Austen. I live on Pride & Prejudice. I love J.K. Rowling too (of course) and many others.
